Bengaluru: In a significant move to fast-track India’s electric mobility ecosystem, Tata Elxsi, a global design and technology leader, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Infineon Technologies, a global semiconductor powerhouse, to jointly develop application-ready electric vehicle (EV) systems tailored for the Indian market.
The collaboration aims to deliver cost-optimized, automotive-grade, and safety-compliant EV subsystems for two-wheelers (2W), three-wheelers (3W), passenger vehicles (PV), and commercial vehicles (CV).

Tata Elxsi Infineon Partnership to Address ASIL-D Safety Standards
These subsystems will be built on Infineon’s cutting-edge semiconductor technologies, including silicon carbide (SiC) components, microcontrollers, and ICs. The partnership will also address ASIL-D safety standards under ISO 26262 for functional safety in road vehicles.
“This MoU strengthens our ongoing partnership with Infineon and enhances system-level alignment,” said Nambi Ganesh, Head of Automotive at Tata Elxsi. “As EV adoption in India scales, our focus remains on delivering ready-for-production, compliant platforms with faster turnaround.”
Under this strategic alliance:
- Tata Elxsi will contribute its design, system integration, and validation expertise
- Infineon will provide early access to advanced semiconductor components
- Co-developed solutions will include high-voltage inverters, battery management systems (BMS), bi-directional onboard chargers, and thermal management systems
These solutions will directly support India’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem, which saw a 28% YoY increase in 2W and 3W EV sales in 2024. The partnership also aligns with NITI Aayog’s 2030 electrification goals – including 80% electrification of 2W and 3W and 70% of CVs.
